Benone Beach is a multiple recipient of the European Blue Flag and Seaside Award. A stunning sightseeing environment along with the usual seaside activities including picnic spots, watersports, and fishing, makes this area a must visit.

Benone Strand and Downhill fall within the Magilligan Special Area of Conservation and is a site of European importance and one of the largest dune systems in the UK and Ireland.  A wide range of wildlife live on the beach, dunes and shore.

The clean, firm golden sands of Strand are without rocks, shingle or seaweed and are preceded by the glorious natural formations of Benone's sand dunes.

Zoned activity areas for swimming, jet skis, dogs etc.

GETTING THERE

Benone Strand is located off the Causeway Coastal Route on the Seacoast Rd (A2), 12 miles north of Limavady and 4 miles west of Castlerock.

Open all year round.

Access from Benone to Magilligan Point may be restricted at times when the firing range is in operation.

Please note that a lifeguard service is on duty inJuly and August from 11.00am to 7.00pm.
