From Divis and the Black Mountain spectacular views over Belfast and every county in Ulster as well as parts of Scotland and England. The mountains rest in the heart of the Belfast Hills, which provide the backdrop to the city's skyline. The rich, varied archaeological landscape is home to a host of wildlife. There are walking trails along a variety of terrain: through heath, on stone tracks, along boardwalks and road surface.
Divis and Black Mountain are best experienced on foot using its 12 miles of walking trails - the most recent of which is the Ridge Trail – a specially designed loop walk on Divis Mountain with stone pitching as its main feature, the Divis summit trail is designed to maintain the condition of the mountain slope while providing public access
The area contains the peaks of Divis Mountain, Black Mountain, Mount Gilbert and Armstrongs Hill, and also the headwaters of the Clady Water, Forth River, Ballygomartin River, Colin River and the Crumlin River.
