Divis and Black Mountain

From Divis and the Black Mountain spectacular views over Belfast and every county in Ulster as well as parts of Scotland and England.  The mountains rest in the heart of the Belfast Hills, which provide the backdrop to the city's skyline. The rich, varied archaeological landscape is home to a host of wildlife. There are walking trails along a variety of terrain: through heath, on stone tracks, along boardwalks and road surface.

Divis and Black Mountain are best experienced on foot using its 12 miles of walking trails - the most recent of which is the Ridge Trail – a specially designed loop walk on Divis Mountain with stone pitching as its main feature, the Divis summit trail is designed to maintain the condition of the mountain slope while providing public access

The area contains the peaks of Divis Mountain, Black Mountain, Mount Gilbert and Armstrongs Hill, and also the headwaters of the Clady Water, Forth River, Ballygomartin River, Colin River and the Crumlin River.

 

GETTING THERE

By car

Minor road off the B38 Upper Springfield Road, off the A55 Outer Ring

By train and bus

Great Victoria Street Railway Station, opposite the National Trust Crown Bar in Belfast City Centre. Bus connection at railway station (Europa Bus Centre); connect to Ulsterbus no. 106, between Belfast and Crumlin. For more information visit the Translink website

By foot

A continuous walking trail links the Lagan Valley Regional Park in South Belfast to the summits of Divis and the Black Mountain
